The Friends’ Handling Box
During August 2026, Friends volunteers David, Neville and Elaine have set out items from our ‘Handling Box’ of original finds in the Anglo-Saxon Village
A small group of Friends have been trained to look after the finds, properly pack and unpack them and to talk to visitors about them. This has presented a rare opportunity for the public to handle these original objects, adding value to their understanding of the Anglo-Saxons.
There were also replicas on hand to show what had not survived and to help interpret the original objects for the visitors.

Our new look Newsletter
In June 2026 we produced a very different looking newsletter which reflected our new logo and colour scheme.
At the AGM it was decided that we need to attract more members and with wider interests than the Stowacynn costume group. We decided to start a better website, update our logo and newsletter. The newsletter was the first of these new initiatives.

Our new logo for The Friends
In April 2026 we changed to our new logo and colour scheme.
The Friends have had the same blue logo since it was established in 1980. The Friends committee wanted a new look and decided a change was good to something more colourful, but they wanted to retain the strong image of the houses. Working with local designer Tony Peek, of TPDS Creative, they came up with this new design with a strapline. We hope you like it.
As part of the logo is the red and yellow interweave dragon design from a bronze die plate found near West Stow.
